Global Trends in COVID-19 Vaccine Neurological Studies

A NEW scientometric analysis has shed light on the global trends and impact of scientific publications regarding the neurological effects of the COVID-19 vaccine. Conducted between 2020 and 2023, the study reveals important insights into the growing body of research on this rare yet significant topic.

The United States has emerged as the leading contributor to the literature, with the highest number of publications (30) and citations (411). Despite this, India has garnered attention for its high impact, particularly through prominent institutions like Ahmedabad Civil Hospital and B. J. Medical College. This research underscores the importance of recognizing neurological complications from the COVID-19 vaccine, which, though rare, require timely diagnosis and treatment by healthcare professionals.

The study, conducted through Scopus (SciVal), tracked the publications between January 2020 and August 2023, with 59 articles meeting the inclusion criteria. Harvard University stood out among institutions, producing the most research on this topic. Furthermore, journals like Journal of Neurology and Journal of Clinical Medicine were pivotal, each contributing two notable publications.

As the field continues to evolve, this bibliometric analysis highlights the need for further exploration across various scientific databases to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the neurological risks linked to the COVID-19 vaccine.
