Sean completed his undergraduate degree in American Literature and History at the University of Birmingham, then went on to obtain a Master’s degree in International Security from Birkbeck, University of London. A keen journalist, he started his professional career copyediting for health, politics and culture B2C publications, before expanding into B2B healthcare publishing as a production and commissioning editor.
He gained diverse experience working across a portfolio of national and international healthcare journals that spanned numerous therapy areas, disciplines and healthcare systems. He has launched international publications, refined legacy titles and driven multimedia innovation, with the collective goal being to modernise the journal format for a 21st century audience and connect specialists with the latest need-to-know information. Together with the talented EMJ team, he continues to strive to enhance the quality of healthcare globally.

Anaya Malik,

Anaya completed her undergraduate studies in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Brighton, UK, where she developed a keen interest in nutritional science and healthcare. After working with the NHS and supporting people through successful lifestyle interventions following type 2 diabetes diagnoses, Anaya realised the importance of accessible healthcare information and patient empowerment.
Her editorial career began at the EMJ, where she advanced from Editorial Assistant to Editorial Manager overseeing journal pipelines and editorial industry content. Now, as the Vice President of Content at the American Medical Journal (AMJ) in Miami, Anaya manages American Medical Journal’s journal and news publications and continues to drive innovation in medical communications.
Her passion for healthcare and education extends beyond her role, as she actively contributes to charitable initiatives, having served as a charity liaison for Kids Inspire and a content creator for The Grief Network. With a passion for bridging the gap between scientific research and healthcare outcomes, Anaya remains dedicated to ensuring that vital medical information reaches healthcare professionals and patients alike, contributing to better clinical practices and patient empowerment.

Isabel O’Brien

Isabel completed her undergraduate degree at the University of East Anglia, where she studied American Literature with Creative Writing, and spent a year studying abroad in San Francisco.
It was during her studies that she discovered her love for journalism, and after graduating she took on a variety of writing and research roles before joining the EMJ team in 2019.
It was then that she realised her passion for life sciences and the people who make it happen, with a particular interest in women’s health, medical affairs and cell and gene therapies.
She now leads the EMJ GOLD team to deliver daily content across our website and social channels, with the aim of helping pharma professionals become gold medal winners in everything they do, through the sharing of informative stories and actionable insights on the topics that matter most in healthcare today.
