Over time, radiological imaging has seen ongoing progression, from being displayed on film, to digital capture, which can also be uploaded onto a cloud-based sharing system for increased efficiency between healthcare providers. This interview article explores the vision of Austria’s national electronic health record project (ELGA) and, in particular, how Siemens Healthineers’ interoperability platform, an innovative solution for radiological image sharing, can enable the storing of images and the automatic registration of new images. In the future, this data can be directly integrated into the Austrian electronic health record system.
