Please see full Prescribing Information, including Patient Information when making treatment decisions.
Glucose elevations with capivasertib were manageable in the CAPItello-291 trial: approximately 37% of patients had an any-grade increase in fasting glucose (FG) from baseline, with a median time to first occurrence of 15 days, and 0.6% of patients each had dose reductions and permanent discontinuations due to hyperglycemia. In a recent US real-world observational study in patients with metastatic breast cancer, both the occurrence of hyperglycemia and the requirement for antihyperglycemic medications were lower with capivasertib than with other PI3K/AKT pathway inhibitors.
The infographic also sets out practical steps to prevent, monitor, and treat hyperglycemia during capivasertib therapy: preparing proactively before Day 1, monitoring FG and counseling patients, starting or increasing metformin, withholding capivasertib until FG ≤160 mg/dL, following resume rules, and keeping patients on treatment. An illustrative example shows the recommended action at each FG level. Some key recommendations are based on expert panel consensus.
