This tool applies the Wells scoring system to estimate the likelihood of deep vein thrombosis (DVT).

Ongoing cancer treatment/palliative care within past 6 months
Recently confined to bed for > 3 days, or major surgery in past 12 weeks
Calf circumference increased by > 3 cm compared to opposite leg (measured 10 cm below tibial tuberosity)
Presence of superficial collateral veins (excl varicose veins)
Swelling affecting entire leg
Localised pain/tenderness along the course of the deep veins
Pitting oedema on affected leg
Paralysis/weakness, or recent plaster cast immobilisation of lower limb
Previous history of DVT
Alternative diagnosis as likely as DVT
