The EMJ Podcast has been shortlisted for Audio Content of the Year at the 2026 Professional Publishers Association (PPA) Awards, marking a recognition of its editorial excellence and innovative audio storytelling.
It was selected for shortlist amid more than 260 entries, reviewed by a panel of more than 50 industry experts across the UK’s publishing sector.
Andrea Charles, Editorial Director, EMJ, said: “This recognition reflects the innovation, collaboration and ambition of the entire EMJ podcast team.
“Thank you to our outstanding hosts and inspiring guests, your voices, ideas and willingness to experiment with new formats enable us to serve meaningful, high‑quality content to time‑poor HCPs globally.”
EMJ Podcast innovations
The EMJ Podcast produces authoritative, accessible medical content and expert insight from key opinion leaders across various specialties, from cardiology and neurology to global health and innovation.
Over the past year, it has undergone key developments, transforming from single, one-hour episodes into a modular editorial format for selected series.
It now offers a multi-series format, allowing for sharper thematic focus, greater flexibility and accessibility for listeners, and deeper medical exploration without sacrificing scientific depth.
The podcast is gaining significant traction, amassing more than 351,000 views last year, with latest figures revealing sustained engagement across multiple therapy areas.
Investment in in-house recording capabilities and technical training has also supported this growth.
Specialist series launch
EMJ has also launched two specialist series: Hema Now and Onc Now, dedicated to haematology and oncology.
The series are grounded in the EMJ Podcast’s long-form format but have allowed EMJ to create discipline-specific editorial identities and engage new specialist clinical audiences.
