This week, the team is joined by Claudia Martínez, Research Programme Manager, Generics and Diabetes Care, Access to Medicine Foundation, to discuss all things access within the pharmaceutical industry.

In this episode, Claudia and Jade explore a range of topics, including the story behind her passion for access to medicine, the industry’s progress in making medicines more widely available in low- and middle-income countries and the Foundation’s latest focus on driving access to generic drugs.

Claudia Martínez is Research Programme Manager, Generics and Diabetes Care, Access to Medicine Foundation. She is responsible for the strategic development, implementation and delivery of end-to-end research programmes at the Access to Medicine Foundation. Her role is to mobilise key players in the pharmaceutical industry to improve access to essential medicines in low- and middle-income countries. Since 2021, she has led the Foundation’s new research stream on access to generic medicines, overseeing and supporting the development of a first-of-its-kind analytical framework to assess how manufacturers can improve access to their products. During her career, she has also held various research and consultancy positions in the private and not-for-profit sectors. She holds a BSc in Economics and an MSc in Environment, Politics and Globalisation from the University of Chile and King’s College London respectively.
