Our flagship journal has seen its third edition for 2019 published. European Medical Journal 4.3 contains a collection of thought-provoking, peer-reviewed papers, selected from the range of therapeutic areas that we cover: from hepatology to dermatology. We also take a look at the latest news in areas such as nephrology, urology, and haematology.

For rheumatologists, Day et al.’s paper ‘A Versatile, Low-Cost, Three-Dimensional-Printed Ultrasound Procedural Training Phantom of the Human Knee’ is an interesting read, as it considers the use of three-dimensional printed knee phantom as an option for training in musculoskeletal ultrasound. Additionally, Manzo and Emamifar look at the similarities between polymyalgia rheumatica and seronegative early-onset rheumatoid arthritis, in their paper: ‘Polymyalgia Rheumatica and Seronegative Elderly-Onset Rheumatoid Arthritis: Two Different Diseases with Many Similarities’.

Our allergy contribution to EMJ 4.3 is Chiera et al.’s paper, ‘Allergen-Specific Immunotherapy for Immunoglobulin E-Mediated Food Allergy’, takes a closer look at an increasingly popular therapeutic modality and its utilisation in the fight against food allergy: a potentially life-threatening condition which presents a significant health consideration worldwide, affecting up to 10% of the population.

This edition contains an exciting feature for those with a vested interested in in vitro fertilisation (IVF) add-on options, such as assisted hatching, physiological intracytoplasmic sperm injection, and embryo glue. Alteri et al.’s ‘The IVF Shopping List: To Tick or not to Tick’ delves into the options and looks at proposed classifications for each option, considering whether those undergoing IVF treatments should agree to these add-ons.

These are just a small selection of the fantastic papers and features available in EMJ 4.3, which also contains a range of symposium reviews, such as ‘Variability of Biologics and its Impact on Biosimilar Development’. Our flagship journal has something for everyone and this third edition for 2019 is not to be missed!
