Because endocrine resistance inevitably develops during the treatment of hormone receptor-positive (HR+), human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-negative advanced breast cancer (aBC), there is a need to identify alternative approaches to help prolong a patient’s time on endocrine therapy.1-3 Learn how integrating ESR1 mutation monitoring into routine blood tests during first-line treatment may help detect emerging endocrine resistance in some aBCs before disease progression and inform earlier treatment decisions.1,2

Learning Objectives:

  • ESR1 mutations driving endocrine resistance during aromatase inhibitor exposure in HR+, HER2-negative aBC
  • Clinical rationale for shifting from ESR1 mutation testing at disease progression to monitoring during first-line treatment using circulating tumor DNA
  • How earlier detection of ESR1 mutations may identify patients at risk of disease progression and inform timely treatment adjustments
