A new filmmaking project providing education for patients with haemophilia on the healing and therapeutic power of the arts and self-expression, sponsored by BioMarin Pharmaceutical, has been announced by production company Believe Limited.

The ‘Breaking through!’ initiative, which is a continuing collaboration between BioMarin, Believe Limited and the Foundation for Art and Healing, will invite 10 adults from across the US to share their experiences, challenges and victories of living with the bleeding disorder in a documentary format.

The participants will learn about the filmmaking process through virtual workshops on writing, prop selection, directing and more, before the Believe Limited production team travel to their locations to help bring their stories to life. The resulting documentary film will premiere in the autumn.

Commenting on the announcement, Chuck Bucklar, Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations North America, BioMarin, said: “BioMarin is proud to continue our support of the Breaking Through! program in our mission to lift the voice of the haemophilia community. At BioMarin, we are inspired by a hemophilia community with huge aspirations and driven to deliver on the ingenuity of gene therapy clinical research and exploration.”
