In the USA, there are currently three licensed COVID-19 vaccines recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC): two mRNA vaccines, and a protein-based vaccine. Uptake of COVID-19 vaccines in the post-pandemic era in the USA is low, with only 22.3% of adults and 37.4% of those aged at least 65 years receiving the updated 2023–2024 COVID-19 vaccine in the last respiratory disease season.
