High incidence of lung cancer in Serbia is derived from high smoking rates, the lack of a nationwide screening programme, and the presence of environmental risk factors. By histology, adenocarcinoma accounts for approximately 50% of all lung cancer cases, with approximately 60% of new diagnoses already in advanced disease stages, where targeted therapies and immunotherapy are indicated.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide, with a global estimation of 2.2 million new cases and 1.8 million deaths in 2020. Low-dose spiral CT-based screening has shown significant mortality reduction of lung cancer in randomised clinical trials. However, the high false-positive results (around 96%) will lead to high rates of overdiagnosis.

The MammaPrint® (MP) 70-gene test is utilised in personalised treatment planning for patients with early-stage breast cancer (EBC) with either node-positive or node-negative disease and categorises tumours as high risk (MP-HR; MP index: –1–≤0) or low risk (MP-LR; MP index: >0–+1).

Sun exposure can lead to tanning, but also to skin damage due to the actions of ultraviolet A and B, visible light, and infrared radiation. One result of sun exposure is field cancerisation (FC), the precursor to actinic keratosis (AK), which in turn is a risk factor for, most notably, squamous cell carcinoma.

Chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) is characterised by the spontaneous occurrence of wheals (hives) and/or angioedema for ≥6 weeks.1 CSU can persist for several years and is associated with severe pruritus. Skin mast cell activation in CSU occurs via Type I autoallergy driven by IgE to autoallergens, and a Type IIb autoimmune response due to mast cell-targeted autoantibodies against IgE or high-affinity IgE receptor.

The primary endpoint analyses from the SUNSHINE and SUNRISE Phase III trials of secukinumab in moderate-to-severe hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) were featured in an oral presentation as part of the late-breaking news session at the 31st annual European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) congress. Known collectively as the SUNNY trials, the SUNSHINE and SUNRISE studies represent the largest Phase III trials conducted in HS to date.

The authors present a study that investigated the clinical features and therapy of superior sulcus1-3 non-small cell lung cancer during a 22-year period. There was a review of 100 patients who underwent curative surgery for superior sulcus non-small cell lung cancer during a 22-year period (July 1998 to December 2020). Patients with an apical tumour and Pancoast syndrome, superior sulcus tumours with invasion of the chest wall, vertebral body, and/or subclavian arteries met the inclusion criteria.

IN THIS pertinent session, which took place on the second day of the European Respiratory Society (ERS) International Congress 2022, in Barcelona, Spain, experts discussed the impact of crisis on both healthcare providers and patients. Chaired by Anita Simonds, Emeritus Professor of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine, Imperial College London, UK, and Arzu Yorgancıoğlu, Professor and Head of the Department of Pulmonology at Celal Bayar University, Turkey, the session saw experts and patient representatives share their experiences following the crisis of the Ukraine war.
